National Channel Manager – Consumer Division


Location: CMI Head office, Brooklyn, Melbourne, Victoria.
Work type: Permanent

Work hours: 8.30am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday


CMI Music & Audio is a major leading distributor of music gear brands in Australia specialising in musical instruments, music technology and professional audio and DJ gear.

We service and support CE channels, music gear resellers, Consumer, and pro-audio rental/installation companies nationally.

V.P. of Sales & Marketing.

Position Summary

National Channel Manager Consumer Division oversees all the operations and growth initiatives, both internal and external, across multiple platforms and formats to drive sales, engagement, increase ranging potential of products distributed by CMI whilst maintaining and strengthening positive customer interaction.

The position requires content and channel development, brand consistency, sales growth, analytics combined with meaningful measurement and reporting.

The position collaborates with all CMI divisions including but not limited to brand managers, brand specialists, marketing department, logistics/finance, marketing.

Consumer Electronic/Mass merchant, video/Photographic & E-Commerce platforms will be a key target for potential growth within this division.


Oversea the division and co-ordinate both aligned and key personal within the organisation ensuring the achievement of set goals and positioning for future growth potential

Business Development

Face to Face contact with key personnel within each of the key Channel partners.
Co-ordinate internal staff to interact with key channel partners and develop strong and varied relationships to ensure sales and ranging growth.
Organise and maintain ranging opportunities and related costings and aligned required materials are completed by the appropriate departments to the level required.
Explore and continue to further grow OEM product ranging with the CE channels within CMI’s Brand Management structure.
Attend and/or interact with channel partners departments such as sales, marketing, finance & logistics.
Channel support

Develop and co-ordinate a strong committed team.
Provide strong procedural reviews, updates, and communication for the team
Development of measures to review and create greater sell through ensuring maximin listings are maintained.
Develop promotional programs for use within the online platforms.
Establishing workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content working with Marketing and Brand Management.
Project manage the development of online platforms.
Supervising the maintenance of content inventories.
Monthly reviews of each platform to maximize performance both in sales and listings.
Work with Marketing to improve interaction with consumers on platforms.
Success Criteria

The NCM is measured on the continual improvement of customer growth to target including the development of new opportunities.

Achievement of KPI’s & sales targets.
Increase ranging across all Channels.
Improved integration of CMI department within the channels.
Maintaining channel health within finance and logistics.
Development of structures to streamline communications & require tasks.
Development of the divisions structure and maintain strong ethical practices.
Ensure comprehensive documentation of all process relating to customer and platform engagement.
Stakeholder engagement across internal channels
Successful Candidate

Minimum 3 years business development/sales experience within the CE and or Mass merchant channel.

Experience within the Electronic or Music wholesale industry is preferred.
Experience in dealing with buyers at head office level.
Strong knowledge of the online market.
High level communication skills.
Stakeholder communication skills.
Proven ability to negotiate.
Be self-motivated and ability to motivate team.
Experience working to and exceeding targets.
