David Leisk Electronics is a high end residential AV installation firm based in Chatswood, Sydney.  We are searching for an experienced AV installation technician to join our installation team.

The position is a full-time role with working hours typically 7:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday.  Occasional paid overtime is necessary.  You will work with one or more of our existing technicians to deliver class leading AV and IT solutions to our clients.

The vast majority of our work is done on site, in some of Sydneys finest homes.  As such, tidy presentation is important and the quality of your work is critical.  So is your ability to arrive at work in a timely and reliable manner.  The nature of our work is such that some pre-requisites are important.

This position requires that you:

  • Are proficient in typical Audio-Visual and IT installation tasks
  • Are highly skilled in the use of a computer
  • Are able to stand and bend for long periods of time
  • Are comfortable working in confined spaces such as sub floors and roof cavities
  • Are comfortable climbing and working on a ladder
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of signal flow in the context of audio-visual systems
  • Have a current “white card” permit to work on construction sites
  • Are able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Have a high level of attention to detail
  • Have a full NSW driver’s license and are able to drive a manual vehicle
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Typical tasks include:

  • Cutting out and fitting ceiling speakers with precision while on a ladder
  • Pulling, terminating, labelling communication cables
  • Mounting televisions, installing AV equipment into racks or joinery
  • Testing and commissioning of systems
  • Programming network hardware and AV control systems
  • Generation of system documentation
  • Handover of completed systems to clients / end users

Desirable qualities:

  • High level knowledge of audio, video, & network systems
  • Methodical trouble shooting process and testing skills
  • Experience reading construction drawings
  • Experience in identifying cable pathways & installation of cables
  • Ability to create system schematic diagrams & cable schedules
  • Open Registration cabling license
  • Forklift license
  • Security license (class 2C)
  • Experience with Savant and/or RTI AV control platforms
  • Experience with UniFi networking platform
  • Experience with Ness M1 security platform
  • Experience with 2N Intercom platform
  • Experience with open architecture audio DSP platforms such as Symetrix and Q-Sys
  • Experience with Clipsal C-Bus or Dynalite lighting control systems

Remuneration

  • An attractive package is offered for the right candidate, including above award rates, super, company phone, vehicle and laptop provided for programming control & data systems
  • Subject to review at conclusion of 90-day trial period, with further yearly review
