ULA: Anolis Adds Soul To Surfers Paradise

Earlier in 2011, Anolis Smart White LED fixtures were installed to illuminate contours of the Soul retail complex and 243m tall residential tower located on The Esplanade of Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.

Four years later, Anolis LED lighting system was specified again to enhance the artistic features of the external ceiling above the walkway between the retail complex buildings. This time the Full Colour LED fixtures were chosen to provide mood lighting in this area of the complex.

Blair Terrace from ULA Group worked closely with Cameron Gunning from Vision & Sound Technology and Tony Dowthwaite from TDLD, to specify the best lighting system for the complex. Following the great experience with Anolis products used in the first stage of lighting up the complex, Anolis ArcLine Outdoor RGB fixtures were specified again for the feature lighting. They have been mounted behind the intricate floral glass ceiling to illuminate the artistic structure as well as to be used as a downlight in the area.

Cameron Gunning comments: “The Anolis Arcline RGB strips are available as a standard order in a variety of lengths and beam angle choices, making them the ideal fixture for this project. Lengths ranging between 300mm and 1200mm were easily installed discretely within the new steel sub frame, without need for any modification to either fixture or structure. The chosen 6 degree beam angle affords an even, high impact coloured wash across each decorative glass face. Gentle, scrolling waves of tastefully chosen colour create subtle movement over the entire glass ceiling to draw attention to the precinct, providing a relaxing, friendly visual environment ”.

The fixtures are powered with 6 Anolis ArcPower 348 Rackmount fixtures located in the control room and controlled via Pharos TPC. The scenes and lighting cues are pre programmed and scheduled to run autonomously via the inbuilt time clock.

The Soul is the second tallest building on the Gold Coast, behind Q1, and raises 77 levels above the sandy beaches and blue ocean waters. It has quickly established itself as the premier dining and shopping precinct in the heart of the Gold Coast.
