NW Group has expanded with the acquisition via merger of Haycom, a leading supplier of corporate audio visual services across Eastern Australia. Haycom contributes a significant corporate customer roster, and additional abilities to NW Group which started as an audio company in the early 1990’s.

Haycom has three main shareholders, with founder Allan Hay to retire from the company. Mario Valenti and Stuart Gregg will remain to head the staff across the Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane offices.

The acquisition is in the form of cash and shareholding, where NW Group issues additional shares and committed shareholders work within the group. NW Group contains Spyglass and Oceania (NZ), Norwest Productions, Cairellie, and Phase 1 Audio in Perth.

Managing Director Matt Jones told CX the objective is to offer full event technical services in each location. There are still some gaps, notably in lighting, and the call to arms on the NW Group website could see further mergers to better fulfill the group objective.

With the Haycom deal factored in, group turnover approaches A$1 million a week.

NW Group is now the largest Australian owned production provider after several recent sales saw other firms move to USA ownership.
