Vale Frank Ward, Head of Production VAC

The performing arts industry mourns the passing of Frank Ward, highly respected Head of Production at Arts Centre Melbourne.

He knew he was on the final journey and his Facebook page sets a new standard for dignity in the face of an approaching fate.

“Sort of getting used to life as chemo patient which is lucky as I’ll be on it for the rest of my days, some days are good others not so great but hey I’m still hanging in there for now. It’s strange what you can get used too…it just seems normal to feel this way now. The family has been fab, we’ve absorbed all the news from the doctors and understand what the future holds, although for now we don’t talk too much about the negatives but focus on the journey ahead together. Stage IV colon cancer is not something you can cure but we hope to have as many laughs as we can along the way. It’s not been easy for Leisel, Darcy & Spencer but they have been fantastic in helping me along the way.”

“Again thanks for all the warmth & support from friends near & far. It makes the journey that much easier with good company along for the ride.”

The Celebration of Frank’s Life will take place at 1.30pm on Wed 17th July at Peter Scullin Reserve, Mordialloc, Vic, 333 Beach Rd, by the Rotunda. Please pay attention to parking limits and ticket machine requirements.

Honouring Frank’s wishes, Leisel, Darcy and Spencer will lay his ashes in Tambourine Bay, Sydney in the coming weeks. Friends and family are welcome to attend this occasion. See Facebook for information.
