PERTH, WEST AUSTRALIA
CX Roadshow is underway with a steady and rewarding cross section of WA technical types browsing 20 exhibits by leading sound, light and vision suppliers in the Hyatt Ballroom.
The day started at 5am, with a new ATS Kenworth towing a 48′ trailer full to roof with 90 cubic metres of gear. The truck just fitted down the narrow Adelaide Terrace loading dock, and ten loaders hauled the gear into the ballroom. At 9am, around 50 exhibitor staff descended and what looked like chaos was a tradeshow by 11am – one hour before doors opened for exhibits.
But punters rolled up at 8.30, with a confirmed five participants for the Richard Cadena Show Electrics Masterclass becoming 14 – walkup is the new thing. Four free seminars at 10am were followed by another set of four at 12. Then at 1pm a small group watched the first LED fixture demo down in Traders Lounge.
Mid afternoon and every exhibit had people talking, networking underway and technical talk mixed with the usual camaraderie of a close knit industry.
Later the Roadshow offers happy hour, which extends 50% longer into a happy-hour-and-a-half. At this, a quiz will find the smartest tech in WA, and several door prizes will be dished up.
Then the loaders will attack the cases, and the truck will be loaded to the roof well within the 3 hours call. Geoff from ATS will then drive to Adelaide, where it all starts again at 5am Monday.
