About the Role

We are seeking applications for the Full Time role of Audio Visual Systems Technician. Reporting to the Manager – Audio Visual, this role will be responsible for supporting the Audio Visual Unit through the maintenance, expansion and development of current and emerging AV systems at QPAC, providing operational support and technical advice when required. This role will actively maintain building-wide paging, MATV, IPTV, comms, broadcast, and control systems.

In this role you will:

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external staff and clients. Communicate effectively and respectfully.
  • Actively maintain building-wide paging, MATV, IPTV, comms, broadcast, and control systems. Provide support when required.
  • Ensure the installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware and software related to AV control networks. Build, terminate and label rack panels. Install new cabling when required. via phone, email and in person, regarding the Production Services Unit and broader QPAC.
  • Troubleshoot issues with network systems, cabling infrastructure, and general faults.
  • Manage offsite equipment repair and logistics. Terminate and repair cabling (XLR, BNC, Ethernet, etc)
  • Manage storage spaces and stock control, prep equipment where necessary and coordinate maintenance schedules.
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the AV Unit through participation in business and infrastructure planning, acquisition, installation, and documentation.
  • Assist with the allocation and documentation of RF signals throughout the centre.
  • Document all currently installed control systems, cabling infrastructure and networks across all performance spaces.
  • Assist in any training relating to technical issues.
  • Contribute to the Trust’s change management programs and equitable and safe work practices.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for:

  • Suitable entertainment industry, trade or tertiary qualifications will be well regarded.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in a multi-venue performance centre is desirable. Rack installation/termination experience will be highly regarded.
  • Experience with a broad range of AV control systems and formats, including but not limited to Q-Sys, MATV, Dante, AES67, MADI, Lake and Network Manager, Wireless Workbench, Optocore, analogue and digital comms partyline.
  • A current ACMA “Cablers” certification or licence would be highly regarded.
