Graham John Fear (OAM), the long term leader of entertainment travel and trucking firm Showgroup, passed away on December 21, 2017 aged 72.
He was the Group General Manager of Show Group since 1987, guiding the company from small boutique travel and freight company into the 100+ people strong organisation that it is today. Graham’s leadership of saw Show Group gain loyalty and trust within the Music and Entertainment industries.
He navigated the collapse of (former Showgroup owner) Ansett, and the transition in ownership to the Avis Group and managed their business with aplomb and skill.
Graham’s passion for the industry also reflected his passion for charity.
He was Chairman and on the Board of Trustees of the Music Industry’s charity organisation, the Golden Stave. The Golden Stave Foundation was formed in 1978 as a not-for-profit Trust Fund for the purpose of providing money, property or benefits of funds to contribute toward the relief of poverty and misfortune, particularly children suffering from physical intellectual and emotional disabilities.
Graham was a board member of “JRS” – Jesuit Refugee Service a body that deals with support and advocacy for refugees entering Australia.
Graham was also on the Board of Directors for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia, an inspirational, not-for-profit organisation providing Clinical Music Therapy and Community Music Programs. In 2015, Graham was recognised for his contribution to charity work by receiving the Order of Australia in the 2015 Australia Day Honours.
Mass of Christian Burial for Graham will be offered in St. Canice’s Church, Roslyn Street, Elizabeth Bay on Wednesday January 3, 2018 commencing at 1.00pm.
The funeral will leave the church at the conclusion of the Mass for Northern Suburbs Memorial Park Crematorium, Delhi Road, North Ryde.
