THE OPPORTUNITY
Every year, the people responsible for more than $50 trillion in global capital walk into our events — in Singapore, Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and across Australia — and the quality of their experience is shaped by what happens on stage, on screen, and in the room.
We’re looking for a Production Manager to own that experience.
Conexus Financial is Australia’s leading publisher and conference producer in the institutional investment and superannuation sector. Our events and media platforms reach the most senior executives in the industry.
This is a hands-on leadership role with two clear mandates: deliver production excellence across our 12 annual conferences and elevate our established podcast and video studio into a scalable, commercially valuable platform.
You won’t be building from scratch. Our studio is operational, our event equipment is leased through trusted partners, and our events have a strong track record. Your job is to raise the standard, improve the systems, and help us unlock what’s next.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Events Technical Direction
-
Lead end-to-end technical delivery across 4 international and 12 Australian conferences annually, each hosting 70–120 senior attendees
-
Coordinate AV requirements and manage relationships with equipment and venue partners
-
Brief, manage, and direct freelance technical crews across multiple event formats
-
Oversee live production including stage management, AV, lighting, and streaming where required
-
Troubleshoot and resolve issues calmly in high-stakes live environments where the audience is C-suite and the margin for error is small
-
Build repeatable production playbooks that reduce reliance on individual knowledge
Studio Growth & Commercialisation
-
Refine and optimise our existing podcast and video studio to improve output quality, consistency, and turnaround
-
Identify opportunities to better utilise and package studio capability — think scalable formats, productised offerings, and new content types
-
Work alongside our commercial team to ensure studio output is production-ready, marketable, and aligned with revenue opportunities
-
Contribute ideas that support the evolution of the studio from an operational function into a growth asset
-
Balance production quality with commercial viability — not everything needs to be broadcast-grade, but everything needs to be professional
This is not a sales role, but we need someone who thinks beyond the technical brief.
ABOUT YOU
Candidates must have valid work rights in Australia.
You’ll need:
-
Significant experience in live corporate event technical direction or production management — you’ve run rooms, managed crews, and kept things together when plans changed at the last minute
-
A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in live corporate event technical direction or production management is required.
-
Strong working knowledge of AV systems, production workflows, and the vendor landscape
-
Experience leading freelance or contract technical teams, including briefing crews you haven’t worked with before in unfamiliar venues
-
Experience working in or around studio-based production — podcasts, video content, or corporate media
-
3-5 years of hands-on experience in studio-based production is required for this role.
-
Comfort operating around senior executives who may have limited rehearsal time and high expectations
-
A commercially aware mindset — you see infrastructure as capability, not just cost
-
Willingness to travel for approximately 12 events per year, including internationally (typically 3–5 days per event)
-
Flexibility to work extended hours during event build and delivery periods
It would be a bonus if you also bring:
-
Experience contributing to content strategy, format development, or studio growth initiatives
-
Familiarity with the financial services, superannuation, or institutional investment sector
-
Experience producing content for or alongside editorial teams
-
You are reliable, calm under pressure, and take pride in delivering consistent, high-quality outcomes. You don’t need to be told twice that the details matter.
THE ROLE AT A GLANCE
Reports to: Head of Digital & Audience
Location: Sydney CBD — Bridge Street office
Travel: Approximately 12 events per year across Australia and internationally (Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Singapore)
Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 + Superannuation
WHY THIS ROLE
The room you’ll work in matters. Our audiences are chairs, CIOs, and CEOs of the largest pension and sovereign wealth funds in the world. The production quality you deliver will be noticed by people who notice everything.
You’re not starting from zero — you’re inheriting a functional studio and a proven events calendar, with a mandate to make both materially better. You’ll deliver events at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions and build a network across global venues and production partners.
This isn’t a back-of-house role. You’ll have a seat at the table when we discuss how to grow and monetise our studio capability. Conexus is investing in its production and content infrastructure — the right person in this role will shape what that looks like.
