About the Role

We are seeking a Service Technician – Entertainment Systems to join our Service team in Victoria.

This is a hands‑on, technically focused role responsible for the inspection, maintenance, fault finding, and repair of entertainment hoisting, stage, and rigging systems across theatres and venues.

You’ll work on live systems in real environments, supporting system reliability, compliance, and safe operation, while producing clear and accurate service documentation.

The role suits someone with strong mechanical aptitude, exposure to control systems, and a safety‑first mindset who enjoys field‑based work and variety.

Key Responsibilities

Service & Technical Delivery

  • Inspect, maintain, service, and repair entertainment and stage systems

  • Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and system testing on mechanical and basic electrical/control systems

  • Perform planned maintenance and system assurance inspections

  • Identify faults, wear, and non‑compliances and recommend practical corrective actions

  • Support rectification works, upgrades, and system improvements as required

  • Complete works in line with company procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable standards

Compliance & Documentation

  • Complete accurate service reports, inspection records, and supporting documentation

  • Ensure all work is traceable, compliant, and audit‑ready

  • Provide clear reporting on system condition, risks, and recommended actions

Safety & Work Practices

  • Work safely at all times, including working at heights and in rigging environments

  • Maintain a proactive safety mindset and contribute to a strong safety culture

  • Identify and report hazards, risks, and unsafe conditions

Client & Team Engagement

  • Liaise professionally with clients and venue staff on site

  • Represent Theatre Safe Australia in a professional, solutions‑focused manner

  • Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and compliance teams

  • Support service delivery across Victoria, with interstate and occasional international work

Systems You’ll Work On

  • Entertainment hoisting and stage systems

  • Stage machinery and rigging systems

  • Winches, tracks, and mechanical stage equipment

  • Basic electrical and control components related to hoisting systems

This role does not involve general electrical contracting or unrelated building services.

What We’re Looking For

Mandatory

  • Working at Heights certification

  • Construction White Card

  • Exposure to electrical or control systems (including fault finding and PLC‑based systems)

  • Ability to interpret basic electrical schematics or control drawings

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills

  • Ability to follow technical procedures and inspection requirements

  • High attention to detail, particularly in safety and documentation

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

  • Willingness to travel interstate regularly and internationally as required

Desirable

  • Rigging licence (DG, RB, RI, RA)

  • Experience in a service technician or field‑based role

  • Experience with entertainment hoisting, staging, or rigging systems
