The Art Gallery of NSW is seeking to fill a temporary part-time position of Lighting Technician for a period of up to 1 year.

The successful applicant will be required to work Monday to Friday for 4.5 hours per day – 22.5 hours per week, commencing each day at 8.00am.

The purpose of this role is to carry out routine morning maintenance and assist the Senior Lighting Technician. This role involves: resolving maintenance issues at the time of installation; ongoing maintenance of lighting design set-ups; responding to staff requests regarding exhibition and back of house lighting maintenance requirements; providing assistance with exhibition lighting design and installation. The routine maintenance schedule includes changing of lamps, exchange of failed equipment when it is safe to do so, or organising an electrician to exchange when it is not safe, and correcting focus and aim of luminaires.

Salary package:

Valued at up to $38,314 p.a including salary ($32,896-$34,721) and employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Salary based on 22.5 hours per week.

Selection criteria:

Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements when working with electrical equipment.
TAFE Principles in Lighting statement or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and understanding of lighting equipment and control systems with demonstrated experience in the appropriate use of luminaires, differing lamps and the lighting of varied objects.
Sound problem solving and analytical skills to conduct basic investigations that will identify display lighting requirements of individual artworks and equipment failures.
Good organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to prioritise tasks in shifting exhibition conditions, and ability to meet exhibition schedule deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong customer service focus to deal with inquiries and respond quickly and effectively to user needs.
Experience in the use and application of software including Dynalite dimming control software analogue and DALI systems.
Current NSW Drivers License, Construction Induction Card (White Card) and Scissor Lift Licence (Yellow Card)
