About the Role 
We’re looking for a skilled Media Production Audio Technician to bring their technical expertise and passion for sound to our dynamic Film and Media Production team. If you love working with professional audio gear, enjoy solving creative technical challenges, and want to share your knowledge with emerging talent—this role offers the perfect blend of hands-on work, collaboration, and innovation.

In this role, you’ll support staff and students across audio production and post-production environments, helping deliver world-class learning experiences. Working closely with our Film and Media Production Manager, you will provide expert technical support, equipment maintenance, and training across a range of professional production facilities—including recording studios, post-production suites, digital media labs, and the equipment loans store.

You’ll be part of a creative and collaborative environment, working day-to-day with academics, researchers, technical specialists and students who are passionate about film, sound and media production.

Please note: This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) on-campus position with limited opportunities for hybrid work. The 0.8 FTE may be structured as either four full working days or reduced hours across five days per week, depending on preference and operational requirements.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in audio production and post-production workflows
  • Proficient with industry-standard software such as ProTools and Adobe Audition
  • Strong technical aptitude with proven troubleshooting capabilities
  • Skilled in operating studio and location audio equipment
  • Effective communicator with the ability to support and train others
  • Excellent organisational skills, in particular with loan and booking systems and asset tracking.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Committed to continuous learning and staying current with industry technologies

 

Qualifications
Tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or extensive relevant work experience in the audio area of the media production industry or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
