Spanning four floors, ILA includes: Aurora Restaurant and an immersive studio on the ground floor; the Light Room bar, gallery and another immersive studio on level 1; and office space for arts and creative businesses on levels 2 and 3.

 

About the role

The Systems Technician ensures the smooth operation, maintenance, and development of LED screens, computer systems, and audio equipment across ILA’s venues. This role supports performances and events by liaising with artists and ILA’s programming and production team to deliver high-quality technical outcomes, and includes:

  • Production and technical support: operating and maintaining our LED screens; managing audio and visual requirements for productions and events, supporting staging and room setup to artist/client requirements;

  • Systems development and documentation: developing and maintaining systems to allow content creators to utilise venue technology, as well as documentation and procedural/user guides; researching technologies and keeping up-to-date with industry-relevant systems.

  • IT and problem solving: implementing software and hardware solutions; providing IT support/advice to ILA and liaising with external service providers.

  • Customer service: liaising with external stakeholders to ensure ILA meets requirements and expectations of artists/clients; liaise with internal ILA staff across programming, hospitality and functions & events to meet event objectives; providing technical assistance across the organisation.

 

About you

We are looking for a technician with broad skills and capability as this role sits within a small but highly capable team. The ideal person will have:

  • Proficiency in audio and technical set-up and operation

  • Knowledge of IT and systems information to support the business

  • Strong knowledge of: NDI, video and data networking, Resolume, digital audio and Bitfocus Companion

  • An understanding of software development and API integration, IT security and IT networking

  • Exceptional statekholder engagement skills, able to build strong working relationships

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail

  • Can-do attitude and willingness to jump in and “do extra stuff”

  • Experience in managing mixing audio requirements in venues would be advantageous

This is a full-time role and will require out-of-hours work from time to time to work on events and productions on evenings and weekends, so a willingness to be flexible with work hours within the role is required.

 

Qualifications:

Qualifications in multimedia, digital arts, sound operation or production, or equivalent experience required.
