We have an exciting opportunity for a person with strong technical skills and a passion for live events to join our Technical Operations team.   Foundation Theatres continues to grow its operations, and we are looking for someone to support our business growth across our venues, Capitol Theatre, Sydney Lyric, Foundry Theatre and Sydney Event Centre.

About the Position

  • Role: Technical Supervisor
  • Work Type: Full Time
  • Location: Sydney Lyric, Foundry Theatre & Sydney Event Centre, Pyrmont & Capitol Theatre, Haymarket, NSW
  • Hours of work: Varied, alternating days & evenings weekly and weekends. Work roster to be mutually agreed, with presence over the weekend, evening and public holiday operations expected. 

Your Day to Day

 Production | Ensure our hirers are well supported prior to, during and after their visit to the venue by assisting with their technical requirements, answering questions, and ensuring that their experience is smooth and positive.

Theatre Maintenance | Be a champion for maintaining the physical buildings and all equipment in all venues. This includes ensuring that the theatres are repaired, maintained, and presented to the highest standard, that daily checks are completed, and that all equipment is maintained.

Safety | Manage risk and safety, including to act as Chief Warden in the event of an emergency, safely conduct repairs including at height and climbing ladders and assist with the implementation of WHS processes and ensure that all working within the theatre uphold the company’s safe work practices.

Security | Maintain the security of our venues by assisting with the lockup of the venue at the end of the day.

Facilities | Assist with the supervision of technical suppliers and service contractors working in the venues and supply accurate meter readings to Management at the requested times.

What it takes to be great in this role

  • The ideal candidate would have 2+ years technical experience in a theatre environment with competency across theatrical staging equipment, lighting, audio visual and communications and is comfortable working safely at height.
  • You will have the ability to effectively manage your time and work proactively and with flexibility.
  • You will have strong communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively work alongside all departments within the business and hirers.
