Take the lead on high-end live events with one of Australia’s most respected AV teams.

Microhire is a long-established leader in event staging and audio-visual production, trusted by some of Australia’s most prestigious venues and clients. We deliver exceptional conferences, exhibitions, gala dinners, and live productions—powered by innovative technology and exceptional people.

Are you tired of executing someone else’s plan?
At Microhire, our Technical Directors are involved early. You’ll play a pivotal role in scoping, specifying, and planning events—shaping equipment and crew requirements before it’s too late. Take control, avoid unnecessary stress, and set your team up for success with thorough preproduction and clear technical direction.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the technical delivery of high-profile corporate events and productions

  • Scope, design, and oversee AV solutions across audio, lighting, staging, and vision systems

  • Provide accurate equipment and labour specifications during preproduction

  • Operate as a senior technician in at least two disciplines (audio, lighting, staging, vision)

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources with precision

  • Liaise directly with clients and venue partners, providing expert advice and outstanding service

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire technical teams on-site

  • Ensure all events meet Microhire’s high standards for safety, quality, and client satisfaction

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Senior Technician or Technical Director role

  • Deep knowledge of professional AV technologies, with operator-level expertise in at least two key disciplines

  • Proven ability to manage large-scale events, exhibitions, and complex technical projects

  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills and confidence under pressure

  • Proficiency with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Visio)

  • IT and computing knowledge, including networking, PowerPoint/Keynote, and Adobe Creative Suite (desirable)

  • Familiarity with Rental Point software (highly regarded)

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence (manual) and EWP/BL Licence required

  • Additional certifications (rigging, white card, truck licence, test & tag, first aid) not required but highly regarded

Why Join Microhire?

  • Early involvement in planning and preproduction—set your own course, not just follow someone else’s

  • Lead prestigious events in Sydney’s premier venues for Australia’s biggest clients

  • Competitive salary package, based on skills and experience

  • Career growth opportunities within a supportive, values-driven team

  • A culture built on respect, professionalism, and a shared passion for delivering incredible client experiences

At Microhire, we believe exceptional events start with exceptional people. If you’re ready to take your career to the next level and lead technical delivery at the highest standard, we’d love to hear from you.
