Help bring extraordinary theatre to life.

Brisbane’s La Boite Theatre is seeking an exceptionally organised and collaborative Program Manager to play a vital role in delivering our artistic program.

Working closely with artists, creatives and production teams, you’ll translate artistic vision into carefully coordinated plans, managing the schedules, logistics and moving parts that bring our productions to the stage.

About La Boite

For more than a century, La Boite has been making bold theatre, championing extraordinary artists and inviting audiences to see the world differently.

Established in 1925 and based at Brisbane’s iconic Roundhouse Theatre, La Boite is one of Australia’s oldest continuously operating theatre companies.

We’re entering an important new chapter, with a refreshed strategic direction and organisational structure designed to strengthen our foundations, support our artistic ambitions and build a resilient La Boite for generations to come.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Director & Co-CEO and working closely with the Artistic Director, the Program Manager will coordinate the people, schedules, contracts, budgets and logistics that underpin La Boite’s artistic program.

You’ll be a central point of coordination between artists, creative teams and La Boite’s internal departments, ensuring productions and artistic activities are well planned, professionally supported and delivered smoothly.

This is a varied, hands-on role requiring exceptional organisation, strong relationships and the ability to keep multiple moving parts on track.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Artistic program coordination: Coordinate the delivery of La Boite’s mainstage season, artist development activities, co-productions, presentations and creative developments.

  • Artist contracting and engagement: Manage artist and creative personnel contracts, onboarding, schedules, travel, accommodation and engagement requirements.

  • Production coordination: Support rehearsals, readings, workshops and production delivery, working closely with stage management, technical personnel and creative teams.

  • Planning and logistics: Maintain accurate schedules, production milestones, delivery plans and information across artistic, technical, marketing and business functions.

  • Budgets and administration: Support production budgeting, monitor expenditure, coordinate payments and maintain accurate program records.

  • Education and reporting: Coordinate the development of production education resources, program evaluations, reporting and funding acquittals.

Please note: As a working theatre company, La Boite operates beyond standard business hours and some evening and weekend work will be required to support productions and events.

About You

We’re looking for someone who thrives on organisation, enjoys working with creative people and knows how to turn complex plans into successful outcomes.

You’ll be someone who takes pride in getting the details right, anticipates challenges and understands the importance of clear communication in a busy creative environment.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience coordinating theatre, performing arts or similarly complex creative programs and productions.

  • Practical experience managing artist contracts, production schedules, logistics and project budgets.

  • Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence working across artists, creative teams and internal departments.

  • Sound judgement, discretion and a calm, solutions-focused approach when plans change.
